Dunc had a great Father's Day. All of the boys made him handmade cards, and we took him to breakfast at Cracker Barrel. My husband is a great father. He is so hands-on, and the boys get so excited every evening when Daddy gets home. There are chants of "Daddyyyyyy", as they run to greet him at the door. Everything he does, they want to emulate, and it just makes me fall more in love with him each day. So, Happy Father's Day, Duncan! We are truly blessed to have you and we love you!

Happy Father's Day, Duncan!
The boy's trip to the butcher (not barber shop)!
So, last Saturday we decided to walk to our local bakery for a very healthy doughnut breakfast. All of the boys and Duncan were in dire need of haircuts, and there just so happened to be a barber shop next door to the bakery. So, Duncan decided to be the guinea pig and go first. Mr. W, the elderly barber, did a great job on Dunc's hair so I thought that it would be okay for the boys to go ahead and get theirs cut also. Well, it started with Tristan, and his looked good also. But, with each successive cut, Mr. W. got worse and worse. Aidan was next (short), then Davis (he butchered my babies' long straight bowl cut which I loved, and turned it into a buzz cut pretty much), and poor Gray went last. Gray's hair hasn't been this short since he was in elementary school! Anyway, I was horrified, shed a few tears over Davis's hair, and complained about the cuts the rest of the day. We definitely won't be going back to see Mr. W. Duncan's summary of the visit - It's just hair, it will grow back! That afternoon, we ended our Saturday with some sprinkler time fun. It's just so hot outside - anyway to keep them cool.
Tristan's Baseball Banquet
Tristan had his baseball banquet last week at the bowling alley. He showed off his mad bowling skills and was very excited about adding another trophy to his collection. I have learned that at his young age, the only thing that really matters in organized sports is the snack after the game and the trophy at the end of the season.

Sudanese appreciation day
Deng Mabil, one of the Lost Boys of Sudan (http://www.redcross.org/news/in/africa/0108lostboyspage.html) has been living in my parent's garage apartment since February of 2006. He moved to the Coast after Katrina to work at Camp Coast Care to help families displaced by the storm. Since then, he has become a part of our family. I distinctly remember the day in church when I first noticed Deng and the other lost boys presence. They all stood so tall and proud, and if you go to the link in this post you will see that they all have suffered greatly. Yet, they always have a smile on their faces and a glow about them. Anyway, the last Sunday in May was a Sudanese recognition day at our church. Deng and the other Lost Boys served as our choir for the day and sang Dingke hymns from their homeland. It was perfect.
