The Buzz of Excitement

I so vividly remember the morning we were going to the hospital. Aidan was bound and determined that he was going with us. He even got his suitcase and was already showing his characteristic stubborness.
For several months, we had to keep a close watch on Davis when Aidan was around. Aidan was always trying to climb on him to give him a kiss.
Tristan was very sweet and loving at all times. A drastic change from when I brought Aidan home from the hospital. Tristan wouldn't acknowledge me for a couple of week. He was so mad! I guess there is a big change from having a new baby home at the age of 20 months compared to being a BIG 3-year old.
Sweet Davis in his going home outfit!

The boys are so excited about the new baby coming. Davis asks me every day "When's that baby coming?" When I say, January, he whines, "that's a really looong time." So their excitement, plus the book that I have been reading entitled "It's a Boy" sent me on a trip down memory lane. This book is written by women writers and is about their experiences on raising sons. On several occasions it has brought a tear to my eye or a chuckle to my belly. So many of the circumstances I have encountered in my own life. Last night I was reading a tale of a mother and her teenager. She was thinking about how she used to run her fingers through his hair each night when he was a toddler, and at this point and time, he barely acknowledged her unless he needed something. So, I started looking at some old pics and thought I would post some of Davis's arrival. I think it accurately captures the enthusiasm that the boys are showing, and it also shows how small Tristan and Aidan were when I was running my fingers through their hair each night (which I still do, by the way)!

Saints Celebration

The annual Saints celebration was held on Saturday night. Usually this event is tons of fun for the kids because they have train rides, obstacle courses, and inflatable jumpers. Unfortunately, the remnants of Fay brought rain starting Saturday afternoon. So, we just went up to the school, ate our Chick-fil-a dinners, ate ice cream, and then watched the sports teams get introduced. The boys especially loved watching their friends Sophie and Emma cheer with the little Saints cheerleaders.

First Day of School

Today my babies started another year of school. Aidan is in Pre-K, and Tristan is in Kindergarten. I was really impressed with both of their teachers, and I am anxious to find out how the day went. They were both just so excited!

A Kid's World

We had a busy Saturday as usual. Spent part of the day with the Lewis family and the evening with the Padudas. We went to "A Kid's World" expo with the Lewises. I think the kids had fun, but it was a bit too crowded for me. That evening we went to Bright Lights, Belhaven Nights and enjoyed the live music and entertainment for the kids. Then we ate fajitas with Aunt Kim and Uncle Mickey (who so graciously carried all of my children at one time or another on his shoulders).

Part-time stay at home mom

So, I have to blog about my first full day (Thursday) at home with the kids. It started out great. I took Aidan and Tris to get haircuts, we went to the bank, paid their tuition, etc. That afternoon, I offered to watch Little Forrest until his grandmother got off of work. At the end of the day (around 5), I went downstairs for one second to answer the door, and I heard a scream. It was coming from my fearless one (Aidan, who happened to be dressed as Batman). I ran up the stairs, and it appears that Batman fell over a pillow into his brother's bed busting his eyebrow open (according to the reliable witnesses of Tristan and Davis). I'm thinking the correct version is that Batman was jumping off of brother's bed onto the pillows and hit his head. Anyway, I loaded him up as soon as Duncan got home and we headed to the ER. His costume was a hit, and he even told the nurse that it was the Scarecrow that caused his accident. Turned out little man needed a couple of swabs of Dermabond, and he will have a slight scar. However, as I was sitting there, looking at my white-haired mischievous imp I foresaw many such trips to the ER in his future. NOT how I wanted my first day to go, but it is a memory none-the-less.

Day at the Rez

Tristan fell asleep sitting up in the boat.
After his power nap!
We spent a Saturday afternoon at the Rez with Grandoc and Mimi. The boys had a great time on the boat and enjoyed the cookout that we had while watching the Olympics.

Beach Trip 2008

We spent last weekend in Sandestin with the Lewis family. The kids got along great, and we had a wonderful time hanging out at the pool and the beach. Here are a few pics!
